About Me

Cristina Hoffmann, is a young visual artist who has photography as one of her greatest passions. Based in New York City since 2007 where she graduated with a B.A. in Graphic Design and Photography at Dowling College – Long Island (2011).

Cristina was born in Florianopolis, Brazil. Her birthplace, an island surrounded by natural beauty, gave her the tools she needed to pursue art in its purest meaning. Nature is her inspiration. Cristina started her career as an artist by transporting into her drawings what nature and the ocean communicated to her. Her inspiration came from her experience as a surfer and the artwork of the great Japanese designer Katsushika Hokusai and his “Great Wave off Kanagawa”. One of her drawings, in 2006, was awarded the first prize by Brazilian Surf Magazine “Fluir”.

Already in her first year at College in New York Cristina’s best drawings were selected for the university periodical art magazine “Riverrun”. And it followed like that until 2010, when she had her first Solo Drawing Exhibition at Dowling College. In 2011 she had her first Solo Photography Exhibition at College, marking her debut as professional photographer.

“I moved to NYC in 2007 when I was 19 years old, to pursue an education in a country I looked up for so much since childhood. Throughout my years here, the city has given me such a different experience, culturally and visually, than the place I grew up. I try to see these differences and apply them to my work through my own eyes.”

Cristina never forgot her origins and her love for the ocean, and she succeeds on bringing this passion to her professional career.

Music is another passion and she has done independent work as photographer in shows and musical events.

In 2012 Cristina tried new challenges and worked as second camera for the short film “Chinese Waters” besides doing post production and editing for this and other four short films, developed during the New York Film Academy 12 weeks film program.

From 2014 to 2015 she experienced new environments working as Assistant Photographer for Chris Herder Photography Company in New York.

From 2013 to present Cristina works at Adorama as Product Photographer and is responsible for managing the art department of this fast pace company’s studio and photo shoots. She also coordinates the creative department for LeisurePro diving events and photography of the sport.
